Updating from 4 to 5


The direct process involved with problem solving and learning how to do complex systems has been very rewarding, that is until we were met with complete disaster. Someone on the team merged incorrectly and reverted almost 2 sprints worth of work. This was fixed by undoing their changes, but some damage was still done. As it stands there is a level one with additions that make the game better, but likewise many additions that were lost.

From 4 to 5 you can see

Weapons

  • Added a Taser “melee” weapon
  • Added a visual to show reload progress near the reticle
  • Hit-marker added to UI
    • When weapon hits enemy the marker appears for a set amount of time
    • Does not appear when hitting a wall

Features

  • Added Doors.
    • Doors can be locked and require a key
    • Doors animated and use a dual door prop
    • Doors added to level one
      • One locked door puzzle
  • Added a Security Level system with cameras that will later have interactions with the level
  • Added saving and loading
    • Save pillar to save progress upon pressing E in front of it
      • A popup will show up that reads “Game Saved”
    • Load button on main menu
      • Load button will be disabled if there is no save data
  • Added destructible boxes
    • Currently drops health packs 100% of the time
  • Added player UI screen flash on damage
  • Added ability for player to activate activatable objects

  • 0G floating bodies removed
  • Limb force increased to compensate for the lack of floating bodies
  • Changed raycast to fire from eye level fixing elevation bugs in line of sight

Bug fixes

  • Death canvas now properly opens on death
  • Enemy placement in level 1 no longer face away from player by default
  • Settings buttons fixed
